There has been a big interest in the installation of tennis courts in Corbridge. Over 200 people have stated that they would like somewhere to play tennis in the village, this in addition to the 50 members already at the club.
Corbridge Tennis Club has now managed to find the £100,000 funding required to get three floodlit courts at Tynedale Rugby Club. Funding was found from various sources, Sport England have given £50,000, Corbridge Women’s Institute £10,000. It is hoped that the courts will be ready for autumn 2012.
Mike Pottage Club Secretary, said that the club is “delighted and relieved that after two and a half years the funding is now in place. It is very exciting there are lots of young people in the village and surrounding areas who a access Tynedale park for football and rugby and this will complement these sports”.
