Cardio Carl Thriving!

Monday, March 05, 2012

Carl Brough is taking Newcastle by storm with Cardio Tennis.

Over the last couple of months, 'Cardio Carl' has inspired many new people into this new aspect of tennis. The sessions are running at Sport Central, Northumbria University on a Thursday night from 5-6pm with a regular 10 participants joining in.  He then heads across the city to Walbottle Campus to deliver a session, where there are a further 8 regulars attending.

Carl's enthusiasm ensures that everybody enjoys the classes no matter what level of fitness or playing standard.

Cardio Tennis is not about how well you can hit a tennis ball, rather that you keep your heart rate up and you are enjoying the experience. As explained on the LTA website,

"Cardio Tennis is a series of tennis-based drills and activities played to up-tempo music on a tennis court. It does not require tennis skills, but is all about keeping your heart rate up, burning calories and having fun. Whether the ball goes in or out is irrelevant as the main purpose is to get fit."

For further information about either of the above classes, please contact British Tennis North East and Cumbria office on NEandCumbria@LTA.org.uk or 0191 5225005.

As part of the all play tennis Newcastle campaign please find videos to highlight Cardio Tennis and the all play challenge.
