Beverley Park, North Tyneside welcomed Clubmark success with a beautiful blue sky and tennis for everyone!
It was a picture perfect day on the coast for Club players, volunteers and eager parents watching their kids competing in the Beverley Park Finals day held Saturday July 21 2012. The annual event, which was showcasing the history and future of the Club had the added bonus of being presented with Clubmark, which is the LTA’s National Accreditation for best practice. As an accredited venue, Beverley Park have demonstrated that they meet the basic operational standards of a well managed place to play, whilst also welcoming people of all ages and standards to enjoy the sport.
Julia Carmichael has worked tremendously hard leading the process and the Committee were right behind her and the Clubs desire to rubber stamp many of the great things that continue to happen at the four court venue.
This achievement now sees Northumberland with 12 Clubmark venues, which is a real positive step to growing the sport and ensuring that quality and best practice is continuously delivered. Jo Cunliffe was delighted by Beverley’s success,
“The Club has always been a key venue for tennis players along the coast. This was cemented when I saw a trophy that dated back to 1922, which truly highlighted the significant work and commitment to providing tennis opportunities to the local community. Wimbledon was one of the most successful Championships in years for British Tennis and it has been fantastic to celebrate grass root achievements of local community Clubs like Beverley Park in such a positive time for the sport. What I have always found amazing about the coastal clubs is that they work very closely together, which helps them all develop and learn from each other. With all 3 Clubs now achieving Clubmark I am sure these solid foundations are going to see the sport continue to grow.”
Clubmark was introduced by Sport England in 2002 and is currently being implemented across 34 sports. The LTA administers its own version of Clubmark based on the National guidelines for best practice combined with real life examples of successfully run places to play across the Country.
There are over 800 Clubmark accredited places to play in the UK, with a further 600 working towards the best practice accreditation.
