Forest Hall Community Tennis Club were presented last week with two cheques from Sport England for both facility and club development.
The club were visited on Friday 9th March by Sport England, in partnership with Thomas Cook, and J.J Jegede who is an Olympic hopeful long-jumper. They presented the club with a cheque for £1, 520 to help go towards new equipment costs. J.J even had a little hit with some of the mini red players!
Then on Saturday 10th March, Sport England presented the club with another cheque for £49,924 to help towards developing the club's facilities. The club hopes to be able to extend the runback on all 3 outdoor courts, resurface then and add in floodlights with the help of this much needed money.
Sport England's Judith Rusmussen presented the cheque to the club, along with Linda Arkley (mayor of North Tyneside), Mary Glindon (local MP) and Tom Kinloch (Northumberland LTA). During the presentation, the club showed why they are such a friendly community club who absolutely deserve the funding - there were kids filling all of the courts, a buffet provided by the parents, and even a glass of bubbly or two!
Congratulations to Dave Davis (head coach) and the rest of the committee for working so tirlessly on the funding bid as well as all the hard work they put into achieving Clubmark and Beacon status for the club before Christmas. We look forward to seeing what the club looks like after it's makeover!
