2011 U.S Open Boys Champion Oliver Golding will be competing at this weekend’s AEGON GB Pro-Series event in Newcastle which offers free entry to spectators.
The 19-year-old will be supported by a strong British cast at the men’s $10,000 event with the likes of Daniel Smethurst, Joshua Milton, Andrew Fitzpatrick, Alexander Slabinsky, James Feaver and Liam Broady also in the main draw.
France’s David Guez (275) is the favourite to take the title but will face strong competition from Ireland’s James McGee (323) and the British contingent.
Tournament Director Richard Joyner said: “With the entry list now confirmed there promises to be some exciting tennis on show at The Northumberland County Ground. With the clay court season now in full swing Oli Golding will be looking to build on his first pro singles title won at Bournemouth last week, with a number of other British players in contention for the title.
“Top ranked player is David Guez, who also won a Futures title last week in Grasse, will certainly be worth watching. David has been ranked as high as 116, and certainly knows his way around a clay court having qualified for the French Open last year. This event is a great opportunity to get close up to the play of some high quality tennis.”
The tournament commences on May 6 with the final set to take place on May 12.
