Players from the Northumberland Tennis Academy competed in Nottingham earlier this month in Grade 2 and international tournaments. The tournament stretched over two weeks, week 1 was a British Grade 2 tournament for 12 under, 14 under, 16 under and 18 under. The second week there was a 14U Tennis Europe international event and Grade 4-18U ITF international event.
The players who competed in the events were:
Fran Booth - competed in the 12U Grade 2.
Steph Booth - competed in the14U and 16U Grade 2 & competed in the 14U Tennis Europe.
Claudette Gilhespie - competed in the 14U Grade 2 & competed in the 14U Tennis Europe.
Donia Abdel-Aziz -competed in the 14U Grade 2 & competed in the 14U Tennis Europe.
Mohamed Abdel-Aziz - competed in both the 14U and 16U Grade 2 Nottingham Junior Open Events.
Farah Abdel-Aziz - competed in 18U Grade 2 & competed in the 18U ITF.
Matthew Hollingworth - competed in the 12U Grade 2.
James Parkin - competed in the 14U Tennis Europe.
Sarah Gregg-Wood was delighted with attitude and performances of the players involved, she said "All the Northumberland Tennis Academy players competed hard and played smart tennis by adapting well to the tough windy conditions. It was a great experience for the players and there were positive results throughout. It was an enjoyable and good start to the outdoor season”.

Week 1:
Matthew Hollingworth reached the final of the Grade 2 - 12U Nottingham Junior Open losing to Jacob Draper.
Claudette Gilhespie reached the quarter- finals in the Grade 2 - 14U Nottingham Junior Open.
Farah Abdel-Aziz reached the semi-finals of the Grade 2 - 18U Nottingham Junior Open.
Fran Booth reached the semi-finals of the 12U Nottingham Junior Open losing to the eventual winner Gemma Heath in a 3rd set tiebreaker.
Emma Wilson who trains at the Northumberland Tennis Academy reached the semi-finals of the 16U - Grade 2 Nottingham Junior Open.
Week 2:
Farah Abdel-Aziz reached the Semi-Finals of the 18U ITF losing to Mariam Bolkvadze from Georgia.
Donia Abdel-Aziz reached the Quarter-Finals of the 14U Tennis Europe after beating the No.1 seed on route and losing to the eventual winner Lauryn John-Baptiste.
Steph Booth qualified into the Main Draw of the Tennis Europe.
