The Northumberland Club are hosting a series of Mini Red and Orange events at the club this winter, and the first weekend went fantastically well!
They are hosting a series of events which will link to a Grand Final at Christmas, where the top players on the leaderboard will be invited to play off against each other. The leaderboards are fantatstic in the way they not only reward players for winning matches, but also participating, and playing in as many of the events as possible.
They are split into groups, so players rated Red 3 and Red 4 will play against each other in one leaderboard, and Red 1s and 2s will play in another (and the same with the Orange event). This way players will be pitted against similar standard players and have the best chance of topping their group as possible. The first series will run from September to December, and a second series is planned to run from January to March.
The first event was played last weekend and saw a huge number of competitors from across the club and county. There were 19 Mini Red players and 19 Mini Orange players taking part. Topping the leaderboards after just the one event are:
Mini Red 1 & 2 leaderboard: Jack Tilbury
Mini Red 3 & 4 leaderboard: Daniel Burn
Mini Orange 1 & 2 leaderboard: Max Lorraine
Mini Orange 3 & 4 leaderboard: Ivan Burt-Smith and Samuel Knowles
There is still all to play for though!
The leaderboards are being run by coach John Henderson and assisted by Jordan Simpson, and they are both really excited about trialling this new format for the winter.
