Amazing effort by 40 young players at recent TBSF Year 3 Tennis Challenge Cup Northumberland County Final.  5 schools from across Northumberland who had qualified through from previous rounds competed in the event June 24th, which was held at Tennis @ Churchill, Wallsend.

Volunteers from St Benet Biscop helped run the event along with Abigail Lemberger, Pippa Hawes and Jo Cunliffe.  The girls competed in their relevant matches first and the boys took part in the Tennis Factory activities.  The focus and determination was etched on their faces throughout the 3 hours, which highlighted the great qualities they already hold.  This is incredible when you think they are only aged 7-8 years old!

What struck all of us was the unrelenting energy from all the players who simply put their hearts and soul into the competition.

Special thanks must go to St Benet Biscop who brought their brilliant volunteers to help the event.  Alan Mole from the Blyth Bedlington School Sports Programme has once again done an unbelievable job with the young people and it was their 6th major tennis event they had been involved in!

Here are the results,

1st - Broomley First School
2nd - Darras Hall First School
3rd - St Peter and Pauls
4th – Cragside First
5th – St Michael’s

Broomley First School and Darras Hall will travel to Sunderland on Wednesday July 9th for the TBSF Year 3 Tennis Challenge Cup Grand Final.  We wish them the best and to enjoy every second of the day!
