The 12th Northumberland Tennis Awards Event was held at the Caledonian Hotel on Wednesday 3rd August as part of the week long Northumberland Open tournament which is one of the largest tennis tournaments of its kind in the UK.
The Awards recognised the achievements of Northumberland players, coaches, officials, volunteers and schools over the past year.
Special Awards were made to 8-year old Abby Kelliher, who trains in the Northumberland Tennis Academy, as the most promising junior of the year, and to Neil Carmichael for his many years of service to tennis in Northumberland and in particular to his local tennis club –Collingwood TC.
The Awards were introduced by Chris Lott, Chairman of Northumberland LTA and Jo Cunliffe, LTA North Region Participation Manager and the trophies were presented by Ian Brown, President of the Northumberland Tennis Association.

Individual Performance of the Year – Bailey Dawson (Ponteland Tennis Club)
School of the Year – Brunton First School
Team of the Year – Northumberland County U12 Boys Team
Young Competition Organiser of the Year – Beth Williamson (Cramlington Community Tennis Partnership)
Adult Volunteer of the Year – Michael Scrafton (Beverley Park Tennis Club)
Coach of the Year – James Newman (Northumberland Tennis Academy)
Junior Volunteer of the Year – Sam Tiplady (The Northumberland Club)
Ann Horler Memorial Salver – Abby Kelliher
Gordon Brewis Service to Tennis – Neil Carmichael
