East Bridgford Tennis Club's Murray Mania Open Day consisted of a fantastic schools tournament sandwiched by a free lesson and then the chance to hit with the ball machine.
There were over 40 children in the free lesson followed by 24 players participating in a tournament where 8 different local primary schools had representatives playing.
Four players from each school were given a free t-shirt which had their school name on it and East Bridgford Tennis Club on the back, and were then placed in a box league against their opposite numbers. Ethan Dawson and Joe White were the two players that shone by winning all of their matches representing Flintham and Radcliffe on Trent schools respectively.
However, it was the overall consistency from all four boys from the school a stone's throw from the club in East Bridgford - St Peters - that allowed them to snatch victory from their opponents. Each match was first to five points and the final scoring could not have been any closer with Flintham Primary coming in third with 83pts, Archbishop Cranmer in 2nd with 85pts and St Peters winning with 86pts!!!!!
With some incredible help from both members and parents volunteering, the day went exceptionally well and everyone enjoyed the BBQ - who knows we may have found some future Andy Murray's!!
