Tennis In The Park event at Clumber Park on Sunday 7th June
Over 200 people of all ages enjoyed having a go at tennis in the grounds of Clumber Park last weekend.
The event was run by the Sports Development Officer based at Clumber Park with the assistance of coaches and volunteers from the nearby clubs of Retford, Welbeck and Wheatley.
The visitors were able to take part in the Tennis challenge event with 8+ stations for different challenges including:
- Forehand rally
- Backhand rally
- “Wrong hand” rally
- Ball bounce count
- Ball balance challenge
- Through the gap challenge
- Target challenge
Many participants had not played tennis since they school days and really enjoyed the experience.
A large number of people commented that they hadn’t played tennis for years and had really enjoyed it. There was genuine interest in the forthcoming GBTW and opportunities at local clubs. One father commented that the event had “cured his daughters phobia of tennis”!!! There were many comments of how much fun people had had and how worn out they were! We were also asked would we be doing this every week / when would we be doing it again!
