The format was 4 singles matches and 2 doubles, in the case of a 3-3 draw you would use one player from your A and B doubles to play a match tiebreaker to decide the match.
We had Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in our group, depending on where in the group you finished would depend on what team in the other group you would play, e.g both first place teams would play for
1st and 2nd, finishing in 2nd place would be a 3rd and 4th play off place and finishing 3rd would be a 5th and 6th play off.
Day one we played Yorkshire after a tough round of singles the score was 1-3 with Phoenix winning his singles.
Going into the doubles we paired brothers Phoenix and Indy together who took another win, but unfortunately Dan suffered an injury during the warm up meaning we forfeited that match and lost the day 2-4.
Going into the last group stage, the players were very positive and up for a fight vs Lincolnshire to get us into the 3rd and 4th place playoffs!
We took all the singles with an amazing comeback from Indy who lost the first set in a tiebreak, but managed to battle back and win the 2nd set 6-2 and take the match tiebreak!
Hugo making his mark at the age of 10 showing all the u14’s that age is just a number! Winning the first set 6-0 then ready for the fight in the 2nd set to win 6-4!
We won the match 5-1 losing one of the doubles.
The last day was vs Northamptonshire with a chance at finishing 3rd on the line. 2-2 after the singles with Ishy losing a very close match but played so positively through the whole match. Dan taking the win in a very physical match refusing to let his standard drop and Phoenix making the comeback of the weekend, finding himself being 1-5 down in the first set before super coach Jamie helped him turn the set and match around to win 7-5 6-0 and not drop another game.
Unfortunately it was not meant to be for us in the doubles, we lost both matches but had chances and the players should be very proud of how they represented themselves and the county over the weekend.
