Match 1 v Dorset
Team - Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Sally Beeley
Result - won 3-2
A highly competitive, very close match with Ann and Wendy both winning their singles then combining to win the doubles in a nail biting 3rd set tiebreak. Everyone gave their all and performed well.
Match 2 v Hereford & Worcester
Team- Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Rosie Watkins
Result- lost 1-4
A very high standard match. Everyone fought hard though the opposition proved too strong. Ann & Wendy won their doubles.
Match 3 v Hertfordshire
Team - Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Rosie Watkins
Result - won 3-2
Another very enjoyable match. Ann & Wendy both won their singles & doubles together. Everyone gave 100 percent & we had a great team spirit.
Match 4 v East of Scotland
Team - Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Helen Drummond, Rosie Watkins
Result- won 5-0
A resounding victory against a good team. Helen stepped in and she and Rosie won both their matches, one in a tense 3rd set tiebreak. Everyone performed brilliantly.
Match 5 v South Wales
Team - Ann Brown, Sue Reesby, Wendy Scalinger, Rosie Watkins (pictured left to right)
Result- won 4-1
Excellent tennis played in a competitive but friendly atmosphere. Ann and Wendy won their matches and Sue helped out and won a doubles with Rosie.
I'm pleased to report that having finished in second place, we will be staying in division one next year. Thanks to everyone who played in the team. I'm proud of you all for your great efforts and team spirit and I look forward to next year's matches.
