Match 1 v Somerset
Team - Ann Brown,Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Shiela Chilvers A good start to the season with everyone playing well & great team spirit.
Result: won 4-1
Match 2 vCheshire
Team - Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Sue Reesby
A highly competitive, very close match. Cheshire's singles players proved too strong but we nearly won the match on the doubles. The 2 Sues fought valiantly, winning a match in a tense third set tiebreak.
Result: lost 2-3
Match 3 v Devon
Team- Ann Brown,Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Rosie Watkins Another enjoyable, closely contested match. This time we won the singles but lost all 3 doubles- 2 on nail biting third set tiebreakers!
Result: lost 2-3
Match 4 v Surrey
Team - Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Shiela Chilvers A very high standard match. Everyone fought hard though the opposition proved too strong. Ann just held on to win her singles in a third set tiebreak.
Result: lost 1-4
Match 5 vEast of Scotland
Team - Ann Brown, Wendy Scalinger, Sue Copestake, Shiela Chilvers The pressure was on as we needed to win to avoid relegation. It was a great match played in a competitive but friendly atmosphere. Ann & Wendy won their singles then combined to win their doubles.
Result: won 3-2
We have finished in 3rd place. Thanks to everyone who has played in the team - every rubber counted & I very much appreciate all your efforts. We are now looking forward to next years challenge still in division 1.
