Have you been inspired by an incredible 12 months in British tennis with Grand Slam victories and London 2012 medals? If so, please note that the first ever Great British Tennis Weekend, a way for everyone to enjoy free tennis, is taking place at a number of sites across the country on 17th and 18th August. We want to get more people playing tennis!
The Great British Tennis Weekend is the highlight of the Lawn Tennis Association’s summer and autumn drive with over 160 different tennis events. People of all ages and abilities can just turn up to play with coaching provided for free.
North Oxford Lawn Tennis Club is participating in this weekend and we are having a free open day at our club on Sunday 18th August from 9am – 3pm. Everyone is welcome to join us, from those that have never picked up a racket but would like to try, through to those that play regularly. We have a mixture of hard and grass courts at our club so if you have always wanted to have a go on grass but have never had the chance, now is your opportunity.
We will have an action packed morning demonstrating the range of coaching we have to offer, our usual Sunday club morning session will be running where members just mix in and play socially (for all standards), there will be a chance to view our facilities and have a chat with some of our coaches and members and to round it all off why not enjoy a drink from the bar!
The timings of the coaching sessions will be as follows:
9am – 10am : Family Coaching – bring the whole family down to see what we can offer.
10am – 11am : Junior Coaching 4 – 17 years – our Junior Academy caters for all ages and abilities
11am – 12pm : Adult coaching and Cardio Tennis – a fitness inspired work out on court
12pm – 1pm : Meet the coaches and committee members – don’t worry, its not as bad as its sounds, we are a friendly bunch!
No need to book, just turn up on the day with appropriate tennis gear if you would like to play (no need for whites!) and you will be made to feel welcome at our club. If you don’t have a racket but would like to join in, you will be able to borrow one. We will have balls too.
