On Sunday 7th March, the Mini Orange players (9&Under) from The Oxfordshire Racquets & Fitness Club (Esporta) invited a team of three boys and three girls from the White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre in Abingdon to play a Mini Orange Tennis challenge match. The players were mainly Orange 1 and Orange 2 rated.
The White Horse came out as the winners by 352 points to 285 played across 9 boys and 9 girl's singles matches and 1 boy's, 1 girl's and 1 mixed doubles matches with each match being exactly 15 minutes in length (overall 315 minutes).
Timed matches are an LTA competition scoring option for Mini tennis meaning that all of the matches count for players ratings. This is great for team events as every point counts and players know exactly when they will be on court next.
Apart from providing three indoor courts, Esporta also laid on a tea party afterwards making it a very social occasion for players and their entourage.
