The Scottish Junior Indoor Doubles Championships proved a hit with both players and parents this weekend with 128 young players competing in Tennis Scotland’s new doubles only event. Nearly 100 doubles rubbers were played in four age groups over two days of competition at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow.

The 43rd Scottish Inter District Team Championships will be held this week at Kilgraston School in Perthshire. All nine of Scotland's District Associations will be represented with competition at three age group competitions – 12, 15 and 18 & Under – over four days at the Bridge of Earn school.

Tennis legends are returning to Scotland this summer to compete at the Brodies Invitational at Gleneagles - a two-day tennis extravaganza which, for the first time, will be part of the prestigious ATP Champions Tour.

The Tennis Scotland 2016 Annual General Meeting will take place at the Stirling Management Centre, University of Stirling on Thursday 13th April 2017, starting at 7 pm. Members (clubs and places to play) have been circulated with the agenda and paperwork. All members are invited to attend.

The 43rd Inter District Championships concluded at Kilgraston School on Saturday with North East crowned as overall champions for 2017. Matt Kerswell, captain of the winning team, was "delighted with his players' performances throughout the four days of competition and with the positive atmosphere created by the players who are part of the current training programme in North East District."

Entries are currently being accepted for the Scottish National Championships which will be played over the May bank holiday weekend at the Craiglockhart Sports Centre, Edinburgh. Online entry to ESC17S0154 closes at 10 am on Friday 14th April.

On Monday 1st May, Judy Murray will be joined by the She Rallies Ambassadors from Scotland, to deliver the first National She Rallies Ambassadors training day in Scotland to up to 68 She Rallies Activators. 

Tennis Scotland is excited to support clubs taking part in this year’s Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW). The GBTW initiative is a nationwide ‘open day’ campaign aimed at encouraging more people to play tennis by offering free opportunities to play.

Attendees at the Tennis Scotland Annual General Meeting, which was held on Thursday evening at the Stirling Court Hotel (formerly Stirling Management Centre), were reminded of just what a successful period the sport has enjoyed in this country recently with 2016 witnessing continued growth in the numbers picking up a racket, 7 Grand Slam titles, 2 Gold and 1 Silver Olympic medals, three World Number 1's and the confirmation of a £15m investment fund via the LTA and sportscotland.

Merchiston is delighted to announce that five of its elite Tennis Academy players, the ‘Scotland Team’, were crowned runners-up (No.2 in the World) in the ISF Tennis World School Championships 2017.

Following the distribution of the Annual Report last week, highlighting the feats of tennis in Scotland, there have been further successes over the previous few weeks.

Geraint Richards, the Tennis Foundation’s Head of Disability Player Performance, yesterday announced his players selected to represent Great Britain in the BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Alghero, Sardinia, Italy, from 1 - 7 May 2017.

Eight teams representing North, South, East and West of Scotland will contest Stage 1 of this season’s County Cup competition.  Staged at venues throughout Great Britain, boy’s and girl’s teams will play singles and doubles over three days of play.

Scotland hosts the Four Nations' Group ‘A’ Senior Players' Championships this weekend at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow. Teams from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales will contest three age groups – 35 & Over, 45 & Over and 50 & Over.

Tennis Scotland stages the Scottish National Championships at Craiglockhart, Edinburgh over the bank holiday weekend.
