A stalwart of Newlands Tennis Club, who can boast a fantastic competition record over many years, is the recipient of the Tennis Scotland Senior Player of the Year award for 2017.

Competing in the women’s 65 and over category, Marjory Love enjoyed an extremely successful year during which she represented Great Britain at the Super Seniors ITF World Team Championships in Florida where she won five of her six matches as she helped her team to a Bronze medal.

She also reached the semi-finals of both the women’s and mixed doubles, again in Florida, in the 37th ITF Super Senior World Individual Championships and was runner-up in the Women’s 65 singles and doubles in the British Senior Closed Grass Court Championships, the British Open Clay Court Championships and the British Open Seniors Indoor Championships.

Completing a wonderful twelve months, Marjory lifted the Scottish Seniors Open Championships singles and doubles titles.

Commenting on her award, Marjory said “Tennis has been a big part of my life and has given me much enjoyment over the years. To be named 2017 Tennis Scotland Senior Player of the Year is an honour and means a great deal to me.”
