Tennis Scotland today launches the 2017 Aegon Team Tennis Scotland league competition which will be played throughout September and October at venues throughout Scotland. The competition has attracted a 20% increase in team entries with teams in the regional tiers competing for a place, as Scotland’s representatives, in the 2018 GB national playoffs.
Aegon Team Tennis is a singles based team competition open to all LTA Registered Venues. It aims to provide players of all ages (8&U – Open) with regular league matches, against similar standard players in a competitive team environment.
Over 300 junior teams from Scottish venues played in Aegon Team Tennis 2017 in county leagues during the summer months. Aegon Team Tennis Scotland, is an open competition, targeting mainly adult players, which is played nationally by teams from Aberdeen in the north to Dumfries in the south.
Stirling University men and Blackhall women's teams will be hoping to defend the titles won in the 2016 competition which attracted nearly 300 adult players to participate in singles and doubles. The men’s holders play 2015 champions Western at home in their opening match whilst Blackhall open their campaign at home against newly-promoted Peebles. The competition period runs from the weekend of 9th/10th September through to the weekend of 21st/22nd October.
