Carrickmines Bowl raises £600 for MacMillan Cancer Support

Monday, August 07, 2017

Drumchapel Tennis Club won the Carrickmines Bowl for the first time on Sunday at the Strathgryffe club in Houston.

Represented by Karen Gallagher and David Buchanan-Smith, the Drumchapel pair beat the host club’s number one pair, Robbie Wishart and Katherine McPhie, in the final. The competition, staged annually by Tennis West of Scotland, targets club league players in a handicapped mixed doubles event which raises money for the MacMillan Cancer Support fund. £600 was raised at this year’s event which adopted the Fast4 playing format for the first time.

The Carrickmines Bowl was donated to Tennis West of Scotland by the Carrickmines Croquet & Lawn Tennis Club of Dublin in both organisation’s centenary year [2004] following a mixed doubles match played at the All England Club, Wimbledon.
