Stirling Uni Women's Team Win Silver at European University Championships

Tuesday, August 01, 2017

Congratulations to the University of Stirling Women’s 1st team on winning a silver medal at the 2017 European University Tennis Championships held in Madrid last week.

The team, made up of Maia Lumsden, Patricia Skowronski and Zoe Moffat, produced some fantastic results against some top European Universities to reach the final, however lost to Bordeaux University in their last game. The weather also played its part, which produced some tough playing conditions with temperatures reaching highs of 37 degrees!

The University of Stirling Men’s 1st team also competed in the championships but were on the wrong end of some very tight matches in their preliminary rounds which put them out with the top 8 teams. The boys finished the tournament in 9th place winning their last 4 matches.

Both teams qualified for the championships after reaching the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) finals back in March.

Well done to all involved!
