There were notable successes for Scottish Juniors last week.

Singles and Doubles titles for Jacob and Connor

Congratulations to Jacob Fearnley and Connor Thomson as the pair won silverware at the ITF junior event in Poland.

Jacob won the singles event, having gone the week not dropping a single set. The 5th seed won the final beating Polish player Mikolaj Lorens 6-4 6-4 in the final.

To top of a great week for Jacob, he then partnered up with fellow Scot Connor Thomson, who has been in brilliant form over the summer, to take home the doubles title 3-6, 7-5 [10-5] against the single's runner up Lorens and his partner Dawid Taczala.

The pair teamed up earlier in the summer to win the Doubles title at the Nike Junior International in Bournemouth and now head to the Nike Junior National Tennis Championships in Nottingham looking to keep up this brilliant form.

Having trailed 2-6 in the 3rd set tie break, the pair did remarkably well to bring the scores level to 8-8 before eventually losing 8-10. In the girls draw Ailish and her partner from Yorkshire, and Julia and her partner from Lincolnshire reached the semi-finals stage.

4 Scottish players featured in the Regional level finals

Boys

  • Samuel Macleod (West Scotland)*
  • Gregor Stott (West Scotland)*
  • Jamie Connel (North Scotland)

  • Lucia Rizza (East Scotland)

*Progressed to main Single's draw

Sam and Gregor made it through to the singles main draw however unfortunately they both met one of the top two seeds in the first round.

All players performed incredibly well to reach this stage of the competition and hopefully enjoyed their experience of playing at Wimbledon.
