A round-up of some of the action involving Scottish players last week

US Open Qualifying Success for Norrie

After the news that Andy Murray has pulled out of the US Open, Scotland will still be represented in the single’s draw at the US Open with Cameron Norrie producing a dominant display in the qualifying rounds.

The world No 226 beat 7th seed Alexander Bublik (KAZ), who is ranked over 100 places above Cameron, in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of qualifying. In the second round Cameron saw off Sekou Bangoura (USA) 6-4, 7-5 and then disposed of world No 131 Go Soeda in another straight sets victory in the final round.

This will be Cameron’s first appearance at the Flushing Meadows where he has been drawn against Russia’s Dmitry Tursunov in the first round.

Congratulations to Cameron on his qualification and all the best in the main draw!
