TENNIS SCOTLAND OPEN SINGLES TOUR

This winter (2017), Tennis Scotland will deliver a nationwide progressive tournament pilot which will provide competitive opportunities for players of all standards across Scotland. Tennis Scotland wants to provide opportunities for all players to compete at an appropriate level and give players an opportunity to progress further within the event.

How does it work?

All players looking to take part must enter the TS 300 Event of their choice before 2pm on the 19th September 2017.

After the closing date some players will be given direct acceptance into the TS 1000 Event and others direct acceptance into the linked TS 500 Event (based on player rating & ranking at the closing date). Those players who do not gain direct acceptance will play in their chosen TS 300 Event.*

This gives players the opportunity to play against others of a similar standard while also giving the winners and potentially the runners up of the TS 300 & TS 500 Events the chance to progress on to the next level.

* If any TS 300 event is oversubscribed the organisers may assign players to other TS 300 Events

What format and grade are the events?

TS 300 Event - Grade 5 over 1 day - Fast4 format
TS 500 Event - Grade 4 over 2 days - Best of 3 sets, champions tiebreak 3rd set
TS 1000 Event - Grade 3 over 3 days - Best of 3 tie break sets

Please note - Ranking points will be awarded for all Events where there are 5 or more players in the draw

When is it?

The tournament runs from 30th September - 12th November with the various events occurring within this period.

TS 300 Events – 30 September OR 1 October - throughout indoor venues across Scotland
TS 500 Events – 21 - 22 October TS 500 Events at 4 indoor venues across Scotland
TS 1000 Events – 10 - 12 November at Stirling University National Indoor Tennis Centre

Who is eligible to play?

The tournament structure is based on player ability rather than age, players must be eligible to play yellow ball and be British Tennis members with an LTA rating at the time of entry.

Where do I play?

You will play at one of the indoor venues across Scotland. Players will choose their preferred venue when entering the tournament. Depending on your rating and ranking you will be placed into an Event with players of similar standard with a chance of progressing to a higher level.

Our aim is to reward all levels of players and not just the top level players. If the Pilot is successful we will be introducing a Leader Board which will be based solely on matches won. There will also be a general National Rankings list based on ranking points gained from the each Tournament.
