Jamie Murray becomes first Brit to win Queen's Club doubles title since 1990

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Jamie Murray and playing partner Bruno Soares won their second doubles title in as many weeks with victory at the Aegon Championships in London at the weekend.

The pair came through with a convincing 6-2 6-3 win over French pair Julien Beneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin and have now gone eight matches undeafeated on grass having won the Stuttgart Open the previous week. This was Jamie’s first title at Queen’s Club in 11 attempts and he becomes the first British player to win the doubles at Queen’s since Jeremy Bates won the title back in 1990 with American doubles partner Kevin Curren.

The victory is a timely one for the pair with Wimbledon starting next week.
