Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) helps to recognise the contribution volunteers make to our communities every day. Throughout the week Tennis Scotland will be highlighting a small number of the wonderful volunteer workforce that have helped to grow and sustain the game in Scotland.

What encouraged you to get involved in Tennis/Volunteering:
My son at the age of 5 said he wanted to play tennis. From then i realised there was a lack of opportunities for young people in the Highlands of Scotland to play tennis and so volunteered to help provide more opportunities for juniors in the area.
What do you do out with Tennis? (Job/Other Hobbies):
I am a partner in a small rural surveyors firm. I am also a Glider pilot and in the past have volunteered with Moray Rugby Club, Highland Gliding Club, Scottish Gliding Association, Moray Hockey Club and Elgin Squash Club.
What does your average volunteering day look like:
I do a lot of admin setting up coaching sessions, organising teams, handle enquiries from parents with children interested in playing tennis, organising tournaments and events - there is never an average day!
Favourite moment when volunteering:
Seeing kids playing in team challenge events
What would you say to anyone looking to volunteer:
Get involved! There are so many ways to help. All the little jobs make such a huge difference in what can be offered and it is very rewarding to see others playing sport.
