For the first time ever, both the University of Stirling men's and women's tennis squads have reached the final of the BUCS National Team Finals which will be held later this month and, in the process have qualified for the European University Sports Association Tennis Team Championships which take place in Madrid in July.
In their semi-finals, the men's team defeated Leeds Beckett University 8-4 while the women triumphed 10-2 against the University of Exeter.
University Head Coach Euan McGinn commented, "This is an historic achievement for the University of Stirling international scholarship programme.
"The programme has made big strides in the last few years and with the continued support from the University of Stirling, the Tennis Foundation, Tennis Scotland and other agencies, we hope to continue to progress further.
"We now need to give it all we have in the National Finals
"Our men's and women's teams both play Durham University in the final! It should prove to be a great battle!"
The men's squad comprises Scott Duncan, Scott Macaulay, Sam McNeil, Rueben Henry and Robert Leck while Maia Lumsden, Patricia Skowronski, Rebecca Pedrazzi, Lenka Hojckova and Zoe Moffatt form the women's squad.
The finals will be staged at the University of Bath on Wednesday March 22nd.
