Round 3 of this season’s Scottish Inter Club Challenge Cup was played at the weekend.
In the women’s competition, holders Blackhall won through to the quarter-final stage with a 6-0 win at Peebles whilst 2017 runners-up Newlands beat Strathgryffe 5-1. Four of the eight third round ties were decided with a 5-4 winning margin. All four previous winners remaining in the draw have home ties at the quarter final stage.

Only one match in the men’s competition required a third round of play with Strathgryffe upsetting West Premier league side Western 5 rubbers to 3 to set up an away quarter final against the Thistle club from Edinburgh. Holders Thorn Park won away to Hillhead with last year’s runners-up Giffnock recording a 5-1 win away against Edinburgh’s Waverley. Pick of the quarter final ties, scheduled for Saturday 2nd June, will be the local derby between Giffnock, champions from 2008-2010, against nineteen time winners Newlands.
