Tennis Scotland is looking for the next generation of officials. The Young Officials Academy 2018 in partnership with the LTA will recruit, train and develop the new officials of the future. The 18 month / 2 year flexible programme will offer 16 next generation officials the opportunity to qualify as a Line Umpire, Chair Umpire, Court Supervisor and Referee, as well as provide you with mentoring from a top international Scotland official. The programme will begin with an Officials Weekend where attendees will undertake the line and chair umpire courses with LTA tutors.
Officials who pass the Officials Weekend will receive the following:
- FREE LTA Officials Licence (For the first year)
- FREE Officials Uniform (Polo, Sweatshirt and Cap)
- FREE PVG FREE Court Supervisor and Referee course in 2019
For those officials who show potential, commitment and enthusiasm will have the opportunity to be fast track to be selected as a Line Umpire at The Championships Wimbledon in 2019
Guidance and support from the LTA officiating and Tennis Scotland team will be available throughout the programme. Following the launch weekend officials will be grouped together in regions and allocated a Tennis Scotland International Official as a mentor. The mentors will provide world class experience, knowledge and support on and off court.
Applicants must attend the Officials Weekend on 26th and 27th May at University of Stirling, be in full time education in Scotland or between the ages of 16 and 26 (Year of young People).
