The Student Tennis Development Forum took place at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre on Saturday the 14th October, with 21 attendees from universities across Scotland.

The day was aimed at Student tennis club leads and student players keen to develop the sport and increase participation in the education sector.

What was covered?

  • - Information on initiatives available to develop the game in education, which included a case study from Edinburgh University using clubspark
  • - The benefits of British Tennis registration
  • - A how to on volunteer coach development
  • - Abertay's Ross Taylor presented information on this years touchtennis Varsity Cup
  • - Students were given the opporunity to apply for a place on the Tennis Foundations Student Tennis Network
  • - A personal development initiative aimed at creating the future of the British Tennis Workforce
  • - Scottish Student Sport gave an overview of this years recreational competition calander
  • - Attendees fed back on challenges faced by colleges and universities in growing the game with the feedback making up some of the focus areas moving forward
  • - David Steers Scottish Student Sport Tennis Chair then took all attendees on court for a session, focusing on delivery and competitive games for students
