Team Scotland won the 14 & Under age group championship as the 2017 Four Nations’ Junior Championships concluded in Glasgow on Sunday.
The team – Sam MacLeod, Jamie Connel, Lucia Rizza and Maisie Wood – beat Ireland and Wales and drew with England, at Scotstoun Leisure Centre, to head the 14 & Under age group table with England runners-up. Captain Karen Lamb was “delighted with her team’s performance on all three days of competition with every member giving 100% in every match”.
England finished as overall champions with 11 points winning both the 12 & Under and 18 & Under events. Scotland were overall runners-up with 7 points with Ireland and Wales third equal on 6 points.
National coach Colin Fleming, team captain of the 18 & Under Scotland team, thought that “the whole team had performed well on home soil to take second place in this annual competition and is already looking forward to going one place better in Ireland in 2018”.
