Tennis Scotland has today announced a change of role for Colin Fleming within the organisation.
As a Top 20 ATP Doubles specialist and former GB Davis Cup player, Colin has brought real gravitas and insight to the Tennis Scotland Performance Team and Programme in his role as National Coach. He is held in very high regard across the performance tennis network and the wider tennis community.
The National Coach role is diverse and on the back of winning bid for a GB NATIONAL ACADEMY, Colin will be freed up to offer more support in the establishment and development of the Academy than previously. This will be done via a contracted role rather than as full time National Coach.
This will also allow Colin some flexibility to get involved in other tennis and media interests which in turn will assist Tennis Scotland in its aim of raising the profile of our sport and the opportunities within Scotland as we continue to grow tennis in our country.
Colin will start his new role on the 5th October. This also corresponds with examining the performance structure in line with the GB National Academy @ The University of Stirling. Tennis Scotland is recruiting now for the Head Coach of the Academy and Colin with the rest of the team will be very much involved in progressing this, along with the wider structure changes to facilitate the Academy and the rest of the performance programme.
In the interim, Jason Atkins will take the lead on the off court / management area of the National Coach role with Ellinore Lightbody and Callum Lloyd (new Regional Player Development Coach) performing the on court elements in the interim in addition to Colin in his new role as Performance Consultant.
