Scottish Schools Championships

The Scottish Secondary Schools Tennis Team Championships is a national competition for secondary schools across Scotland. There are separate boys and girls competitions and teams consist of 4 boys and/or 4 girls.

Format

Each match will consist of two tie break sets and a championship tie break to 10 for the 3rd set.  In the first two sets a tie break shall operate at 6-6, whilst the third set shall be determined by one match tie break (up to 10 points). In the event that the total number of matches should be 3-3 then a doubles match tie break to 10 points should be played to determine the winning team.  The doubles pair must consist of one player from each of the original doubles pairings.

All matches must be completed before the dates below (also indicated in the online draws):

Round deadlines;

Round 1 –28 October
Round 2 – 23 December
Round 3 –24 February
Round 4 – 28 April

The semi-finals and finals of the girls and boys events will take place at St George’s School, Edinburgh in the week commencing Monday 5 June (date TBC).

The list of team contacts can be found here. To view team contact information, simply click on the opposing team name and their details will appear. It is both team captains responsibility to contact each other before the match. If you give the captaincy on match day to another person please make sure they have the necessary information.

British Tennis Membership

To be eligible to compete in the Scottish Schools Team Tennis Championships, players must be British Tennis Members (BTM) – this is free to all club members and registered schools. As team captain it is your responsibility to make sure every player in your team is BTM registered. More information is available on the British Tennis Website.

Results

Results should be submitted to Tennis Scotland by the winning Team Captain after each match.  Teams will not progress to the next round until this is completed.  Please ensure that first and second names are entered as well as the players British Tennis Membership (BTM) number.

Please note the following;

-  The draw will be a knock out draw with an optional consolation event for teams who lose their 1st match.

-  It is the schools responsibility to schedule their own matches up to and including the quarter-finals.

-  The semi-finals and finals of the girls and boys events will take place at St George’s School, Edinburgh in the week commencing Monday 5 June (exact date TBC).
