Shropshire team : Aimee Cooper, Helen Roberts, Sophie Van Der Stap, Maddy Leighton-Jones, Charis Leighton-Jones, Emilie Gradwell.
Going into the event we knew that we would be up against it facing some very strong teams. Aimee had been out with an injury for 6 weeks and had only just picked up a racket again for the event and many of the others not having much match practice under their belts. The girls despite not winning a match and being up against it from day one showed good spirit across the 3 days and showed grit and determination in their matches but found it tough against more experienced players.
Lancashire proved just too strong on day one but on day 2 against Durham and Cleveland the Shropshire girls played really well in both doubles narrowly missing out. Day 3 meant that we faced North Wales who had also found the competition tough and were also looking for their first win. Maddy Leighton Jones had a long three set match and Aimee and Helen Roberts were unlucky to lose out in the championship tiebreak in the third set in their doubles but acquitted themselves well showing promise as a doubles pairing for the future.
The event will have been a good learning curve for the girls who will come back next year knowing what to expect and come back with renewed enthusiasm.
