Competition Organiser Course
The course is 3 hours long and at the end of the session you will be prepared to confidently deliver your first competition and assist a club, coach or committee in planning competitions.
The course will include;
- Guidance on how to plan and run your competition
- Competition format guidance and best practise depending on the number of players and their standard
- Tips to help you to plan your welcome presentation to players and parents and your prize giving presentation
When attending you will be given a toolkit to help you start running competitions

Referee Course
Refereeing is one of the ways to be involved in competition and a referee is the person who is responsible for supervising all players at a competition to ensure they follow the rules of tennis. A qualified referee is needed at Grade 5 competitions and above as these count for AEGON British Tennis Ratings and Rankings.
Details of the steps to becoming a qualified referee are as follows:
This one day course will provide you with an introduction to the role of the referee and includes
- Rules of Tennis
- Code of Conduct
- Refereeing duties
- Handling difficult situations, such as on-court disputes
- British Tennis Competition Formats
After attending the basic course, you will be able to organise and referee Grade 6 and 7 competitions locally, such as Mini Tennis and Matchplays at your local Place to Play. You will also be able to assist a referee as a court supervisor at higher grade competitions.

Mini Tennis Workshop
This is a new LTA workshop which is being run exclusively by LTA coach education centers such as inspire2coach. Find out about how to make the new LTA mini tennis awards work for you, using them to help your players develop, to energise your programme and to make more money by developing a team of coaches and others to help grow your programme.

Play Test
To be able to access certain qualifications a basic playing standard is required.
The Play Test allows people to be assessed against the relevant entry playing criteria for a specific qualification.
Once successful on the Play Test, candidates will be able to access their qualification course knowing that their playing ability is the correct level for the start of the course.
However, if candidates have (or have had) a rating at or above the following levels they do not need to take the Play Test. Please note that evidence will be required.
- Coach, Club Coach 6.1
- Performance Coach, Senior Club Coach and Master Club Coach 5.1
- Senior Performance Coach, Master Performance Coach 4.1
