The last week in October sees the AEGON GB Pro-Series Cardiff return to South Wales. Played Indoors at the Esporta Cardiff Club, this Men’s ITF $15,000 event is the second tier of Men’s Professional Tennis, and is the breeding ground for future top 50 and Grand Slam winners. Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, and Murray would have all played at this level en route to the top.
Typically an event at this level attracts players with a world ranking of between 300 and 700. The 2010 event in Cardiff had four players ranked inside the top 300, with the top seed ranked 166. Winner of the 2010 Men’s Singles title was Jurgen Zopp, the Estonian number 1 (currently ranked 204), whilst the Men’s Doubles title was won by two British players and top seeds Josh Goodall & Dom Inglot.
Entry for spectators is free, providing a great opportunity to get close up to the action.
The intended schedule is
Sunday 23 & Monday 24 October Men’s Singles Qualifying
Tuesday 25 – Thursday 27 October Main Draw Singles & Doubles
Friday 28 October Singles Semi-finals & Doubles Final
