Tennis Wales Awards Details 2013

Tennis Wales is delighted to notify you that at 6.45pm on Saturday 18th January 2014, it will be staging its annual awards evening at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff. The evening promises to be another memorable celebration of the many current achievements in Welsh tennis. The event will consist of a delicious 2 course hot fork buffet and the presentation of the Tennis Wales Awards. Dress code: Smart/Lounge suits.  Joining us as special guests will be Sarah Powell, the new CEO of Sport Wales, who will give us her thoughts on the development of Welsh sport, and Cathie Sabin, the first ever female President of the LTA.  The awards evening will once again be hosted by the very entertaining former TV presenter Arfon Haines-Davies.

This year, finalists have been selected in each Award category with the winner of each Award being announced on the night. The finalists are:

Volunteer of the Year

Alan Brain  (Swansea Tennis Centre),   Ann Powell (Allt-Yr-Yn LTC) and Jan Nevill (Newtown Tennis Club).

 

Young Volunteer of the Year

Amy Lloyd (Swansea Tennis Centre), George Morris (Mold Tennis Club), Harry Nevill (Newtown Tennis Club) and Mair Floyd-Bosley (Abergavenny Tennis Club).

Performance Coach of the Year

Becca Strelzyn (David Lloyd Tennis Centre), Chris Lewis (XL Tennis) and Katherine Maddock-Lyon (David Lloyd Tennis Centre).

 

Development Coach of the Year

John Williams (Cardiff LTC), Phil Thomas (Allt-Yr-Yn Tennis Club) and Rhys Morgan (Mackintosh LTC).

 

Club/Centre of the Year

Penarth Lawn Tennis Club, Rhiwbina Tennis Club and Swansea Tennis Centre.

 

Team of the Year

Mackintosh Men’s Aegon Team, South Wales Men’s Summer County Team and U18 Tri-Nations Team.

Club Team of the Year (New Award)

Cardiff Castle Ladies 3rd Team, Rhiwbina Ladies 1st Team and Rhiwbina Men’s 1st Team.

Player of the Year

Chris Hill (Crickhowell), Evan Hoyt (Llanelli) and Josh Milton (Cardiff).

 

Local Authority

Flintshire County Council and Powys County Council.

As well as the above we will also present an Outstanding Contribution to Tennis in Wales Award as well as an additional award.
