The Tennis Wales Road Shows kicked off in early October spanning the length and breadth of the country with the aim of updating and informing the Tennis Community and its partners on Great British Tennis Weekend, changes & improvements to Tennismark with some local updates on competition and Disability Tennis. There were 9 venues in total Newtown, Colwyn Bay, Wrexham, Haverfordwest, Brecon, Newport, Swansea, Penarth & finishing in Taffs Well. We saw record breaking numbers of volunteers & coaches attending 83 across Wales with 43 venues & 2 Local authorities represented.
We were joined in Brecon by South Powys Sports Development Manager Matt James who said ‘’On behalf of Sport Powys and all our tennis stakeholders, I wish to thank Tennis Wales for staging two road show events in our County. The clubs and coaches that attended will certainly have been impressed with both Tennis Wales’ honest and intelligent approach and with the excellent online tools that are now available to clubs, to help them recruit and retain more members”.
There was plenty of really productive discussion around the changes and positive action plans for the next 12 months. We took plenty of feedback from those attending and a big focus for the Spring Road Shows in March will be around interactive sharing best practice sessions within the different venues.
We must say a massive thank you for everyone’s support – the venues that hosted and all that gave up their time to attend. See you in the Spring!!
