Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Young tennis players from Swansea Tennis Centre have enjoyed success at important events across the border.

Siblings Sam and Elizabeth Evans won the boys and girls 8U (Mini Reds) competitions in a grade 3 event at Bristol David Lloyd.

At the same event, Laila Savage was runner-up in the 10U category and Eleri Rowlands in the 12U age group.

Meanwhile, Jethro Delavega won the grade 2 event at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre, Loughborough University, in the 9U (Mini Orange) category.

Grade 2 events include players of national and county standard, while grade 3 events are high-level regional competitions.

“It’s great to see some of our youngest players travelling to events and being so successful,” said Tennis Wales chief executive, Peter Drew. “Tennis really is a sport for all ages, and Wales is producing winners at all levels.”
