In the singles, Hoyt, aged 20, from Llanelli, beat Kevin Grieksport of the Netherlands, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to win the Sportevasion ITF Futures Summer Tour title.

In the doubles, he teamed up with Tunisia’s Anis Ghorbel to beat French pair Theo Fournerie and Jonathan Kanar 6-2, 6-3 in the final.

In the first round they beat another French duo, Marceau Courtalon and Florian Simbozel, 6-3, 6-0; in the quarter final, they beat Germany’s Nils Brinkman and Jannis Kahlke, 6-1, 6-4; and in the semi final, they were awarded a walkover against Boris Fassbender and Antoine Monaco (France).

“This represents a great step up for Evan, having returned home to base himself in Wales for training,” said Tennis Wales performance manager, Ellinore Lightbody.

Tennis Wales chief executive, Peter Drew added: “Winning an ITF Futures title is a tremendous achievement, and winning at both singles and doubles is really special.”
