Tennis Wales have confirmed that Simon Johnson will be taking up the role of Tennis Wales Chief Executive Officer. Simon comes across from the Lawn Tennis Association after a number of years as Head of Region for the South West, where he has had a significant impact, getting more people playing tennis, more often. Simon has been acting as interim CEO for Tennis Wales and in the last few months he has already made a significant difference in bringing our Welsh tennis community closer together.
Barry Cawte, Chair Tennis Wales said ‘After a fiercely competitive selection process it is very clear that Simon has the expertise, experience and influence that most suited our vision of opening up tennis. Moving into our new era we are very excited about the impact Simon will have and we wish him the very best’
Of his new appointment, Simon commented ‘I’m extremely excited to join Tennis Wales and lead the organisation. It’s an honour to be charged with delivering an ambitious vision to open up tennis in Wales’
Simon will commence in his post from the 1st of April but will continue to support Tennis Wales until that point.
