Remuneration Self-employed; £125 per day (Level 4) or £150 per day (Level 5) + all travel & accommodation expenses, team clothing & safeguarding training
ABOUT THE ROLE
Tennis Wales are the Governing Body of tennis with an exciting vision for the future. In partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association & Sport Wales we aim to open tennis up to more people. Tennis Wales support a growing infrastructure of 86 registered tennis venues, 22 Local Authorities, 220 schools and a superb network of charitable partners & sponsors.
Tennis Wales are delighted to host the 2019 Home Nations competition. The international event will see Wales compete on home soil against teams from England, Scotland & Ireland. The Home Nations 14&U Team Captain will be responsible to the Team Wales Manager and oversee preparation, planning & Captain the 14&U team on behalf of Team Wales at Wrexham Tennis Centre in September, working with players, coaches & parents to lead the team in all aspects of the competition.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Captain Wales’ 14&U junior team at the Home Nations event in Wrexham as part of Team Wales.
- Act in Loco Parentis to players for the duration of the tournament trip.
- Have a thorough understanding of the current Tennis Wales Tournament Trip policies and procedures, LTA code of conduct and all safeguarding responsibilities.
- Provide on court coaching to players during matches which raises their level of performance in a professional manner.
- Provide coaching to players off court in a way which raises their professionalism and the reputation of Team Wales, mentoring & supporting them throughout the trip.
- Conduct team meetings specific to the 14&U age group and contribute to larger team meetings led by the Team Wales Manager.
- Provide a report at the conclusion of the event detailing the performance of the 14&U age group as a team and as individuals within it, sharing details with parents & coaches of players taking part.
- Be fully familiar with the objective, points based selection policy which Tennis Wales currently uses for team selections.
- Be available for the team selection meeting the week commencing Monday 19th August 2019.
- Liaise with relevant Tennis Wales Staff where appropriate to ensure the trip is planned & delivered with excellence.
