It is with great pleasure that Warwickshire Lawn Tennis Association can announce the AEGON Classic will be returning to the Edgbaston Priory Club in June 2010.
Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the LTA, said: “The British Tennis Series events are a key opportunity for people to see top international tennis in Britain and we are delighted to be taking the AEGON Classic back to Edgbaston Priory and Birmingham in 2010.”
Mike Whitby, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: "We are delighted that the AEGON Classic will remain in Birmingham next year, and that the city will once again welcome international tennis stars. The event brings a wide range of visitors from the region and beyond, providing an economic benefit and an important legacy of inspiring young people to engage with sport and become more active. The City Council will, therefore, continue to work with both the LTA and the Edgbaston Priory Club to secure the long-term future of the event in the city."
Robert Bray, Chief Executive of Edgbaston Priory Club commented “Edgbaston Priory Club has a long tradition of hosting international tennis and we are delighted to have reached an agreement with the LTA to host the AEGON Classic again in 2010. We are at an exciting stage of the development of Edgbaston Priory as a club and we look forward to exploring further with the LTA and the City Council the ways in which we can provide a suitable venue for future events”
