Today Beechwood men's capped a fine season by qualifying for the AEGON Open National League - West Midlands Division 2 by beating Pershore in the REgional Playoff 12-0. Ade Shola, Cameron Malik, Rich Allen and Tony Eccleston teamed up to convincing win all 4 singles matches before Shola/Allen and Malik/Eccleston won their respective doubles matches.
The club - who have already won the Coventry & District Men's Premier Division Title this season & are celebrating their 40th 'birthday' - now go on to the next stage for the first time in their history. This will strengthen Warwickshire's representation in the event and will mean the Earlsdon outfit taking on the biggest clubs across the middle band of the UK - from Cardiff to East Anglia.
The final fixture of the doubles league season will see Beechwood play Four Oaks from Sutton Coldfield (winners of the Birmingham Area League) in the prestigious Warwickshire League Play-off at Billesley on 25th September 2009. A victory in this fixture would be the first success for the Coventry representatives and round off a superb year of tennis for Beechwood LTC.
