Henley Tennis Club kicked off the tennis summer season with an evening of tournament finals sponsored by John Cranmer Estate Agents. Despite the wet weather a very competitive Bunny Shepheard mixed doubles final was won by Ben Summers and Sue Harbour. The pair beat Neil Supperstone and Lucy Webster in a third set tie break 7-5. Whilst the newly donated Rowen Photography Plate was won by Nigel Keefe and Anne Crooks.
Meanwhile the wet weather did not dampen the support that was given to the junior tournament finals. In another close three set match Chris Cardwell came out the victor in the Under 16 singles club tournament beating Matt Williams. Oliver Richardson was crowned the Under 12 champion by inching his way to victory in a tie break against Frazer Kent. Overall the weather did not dampen spirits and everyone had an enjoyable night with many thanks going to John Cranmer Estate agents for sponsoring the evening and the numerous volunteers who made the evening a great success. The club are looking forward to a busy summer of tennis. If you fancy coming down and having a game there is an open day at the club on Stratford Road on Saturday May 1st 1-4pm.
