A new record entry of teams is expected at the AGM of the South Warwickshire & District Summer Tennis League, known as the Caveney Road Surfacing League. It will hold its’ Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 23rd February, 2010, from 7.30pm, at the Royal British Legion Club, Bidford-on-Avon. With the Premier League and Divisions 1 to 5 the league remains at six divisions.
This Men’s Doubles Summer Tennis League covers the South Warwickshire and district areas of the midlands including parts of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and also runs a one-day end-of-season pairs tournament and an inter-league Charity Cup Final. The league also enters for a sixth season a Junior League which begins a month earlier in March and consists of 16 teams from 12 clubs divided into four pools.
The League continues to be backed by a Redditch company Caveney Road Surfacing Limited. This is the fourteenth year of sponsorship by the company who’s driving force Lee Prudden, also donates the £250 main prize to charity in the Charity Cup Final held in June. Tony King of Alcester has again promised financial backing for the annual Pairs Tournament for the 19th year in a row, while new ball sponsors for the Charity Cup and Annual Pairs tournament are wanted.
All Clubs wishing to enter the league in 2010 are required under the rules to send a representative to the meeting. Free refreshments will be supplied following the event.
