The final AEGON British Tour Tier 1 event of 2010 concluded at the Nottingham Tennis Centre on Saturday with victory for Andrew Fitzpatrick in the men’s draw. A strong men’s field, which included 10 players with an ATP world ranking, saw the star of the AEGON British Tour contest the final for the second consecutive week.
Andrew Fitzpatrick, who beat Bolton’s Simon Roberts in a 3 hour marathon at the AEGON British Tour Hull last week, again got the better of his 27 year old opponent with a more straight forward 6-2, 6-2 victory. Fitzpatrick’s win was following on from an excellent 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over top seed, Alex Ward, on Friday.
Andrew finished the season at the top of the Tier 1 Leader board for 2010 finishing some 1,800 points ahead of another Warwickshire star David O’Leary, winning 3 titles, finishing runner-up twice, and a semi –finalist in his 6 Tier 1 events during the year.
