Deadline: 15th October
Grant: Small grant - £10,000 per year for 3 years or less
 Main grant – over £10,000 per year for 3 years or less
BBC Children in Need wants to fund stable, well-managed and effective organisations. Therefore, you will need to ensure that your organisation has the following:
• sound financial management processes
• a stable financial position
• an involved and effective management committee
• an informed and considered approach to safeguarding children
• a staff team which is knowledgeable about and able to implement your child protection policy
Projects delivered by organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people, who must be 18 years and under. Disadvantages experienced by children and young people include:
• Illness, distress, abuse or neglect
• Any kind of disability
• Behavioural or psychological difficulties
• Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

The trust aims to advance the education and recreational training of young people, aiding the physical, mental and moral well-being of the inhabitants of the beneficial areas.

Deadline: 6 weeks prior to trustee meeting in January.
The Trust provides financial help to charitable organisations supporting and working with the physically handicapped, the mentally handicapped, children in need, the elderly and the homeless. The Trust will also support hospitals and hospices and medical research relating to any of the aforementioned groups

Deadline: for children's projects: 31st January and 30th June, for elderly and disabled: 31st March and 30th September
Community Awards
The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000 to local projects that support children and their education and welfare, elderly people and adults and children with disabilities.
The funding we give goes towards providing practical benefits, such as equipment and resources for projects that directly benefit children, the elderly and adults and children with disabilities, living in the local communities around our stores in the UK.
Large Grant Applications

• Adults and children with disabilities.
The Trust gives one-off donations ranging between £4,000 and £25,000. Our focus is to fund practical equipment and resources that are used by the charities clients, and which leave lasting legacy in UK communities where we have stores and internationally in countries where we have suppliers.

Designed to promote heart health and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities.  We have funded over £800,000 worth of grants around the UK and focus on innovative, original projects that are based around heart health.  Here are just a few examples.
On your bike
The Foresight Project in Grimsby which encourages visually impaired people to take regular exercise using tandem bicycles
Flying high
Circomedia in Bristol who teach teenagers circus skills as a way of enthusing them to get active.
Lords of the Dance
Cafe West in Bradford encourage local residents to participate in fun physical activities such as belly dancing, line dancing and exercise classes.

Grants: on average vary between £25,000 and £40,000 – up to £100,000
The organisations we fund will need to show how their work will help deliver one or more of the following outcomes
Increased sense of inclusion and well-being by marginalised and disadvantaged people
Greater community involvement
An increased understanding of how sport can help bring about positive changes in the lives of individuals and communities
Greater knowledge across the community and sports sectors about effective work which uses sport as a tool for social change
We particularly want to fund organisations working to support people from BME communities, older people and women/girls.
We cannot fund:
• Projects which aim only to increase participation in sport
• Projects aiming to develop sporting excellence
• Individual athletes or sports teams
• One-off sporting events

The Trustees principal objective is to support charitable organisations whose purpose is to alleviate poverty and social deprivation with particular emphasis on children’s and women’s issues. All charities should be registered with the relevant national charity commission or equivalent body.
