An entry of 45 teams is expected at the AGM of the South Warwickshire & District Summer Tennis League. The League's Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 21st February, 2012, from 7.30pm, at the previous Royal British Legion Club, now known as the "Crown", Bidford-on-Avon. With the Premier League and Divisions 1 to 5 the league remains at six divisions.
This Men’s Doubles Summer Tennis League covers the South Warwickshire and district areas of the midlands including parts of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and also stages an inter-league Charity Cup Final between the winners of this league and the Winter League. It also enters for a ninth season a Junior League which begins a month earlier in March and has maintained last years record increase in the number of teams which had been from 16 to 24 teams from 16 clubs divided into six new pools.
The League is also looking for a new sponsor at the AGM, having lost its sponsor of Widney Sports who ceased trading at the end of last year. The Summer Leagues will donate £100 main prize to the charity of choice by the team that wins the Charity Cup Final, which will celebrate it's 11th anniversary and be held on Sunday, 2nd September, 2012 at Alcester Tennis Club. The Summer League President Tony King of Alcester has promised financial backing for the Charity Cup Final and Junior Cup Final which will be held alongside each other at Alcester. This is the 21st year of his sponsorship of Tournaments. The ball sponsors for the Charity Cup, Junior Cup Final and Junior Semi-Final Play-Offs are once again "Inspire2Coach".
All Clubs entered into the league for 2012 are required under the rules to send a representative to the meeting. Free refreshments will be supplied following the event.
