The first AEGON British Tour of 2012 concluded over the weekend with Warwickshire’s Andrew Fitzpatrick securing the men’s title at Billesley Tennis Centre.
In the Men's final, fifth seed, Andrew Fitzpatrick defeated top seed Josh Goodall 6-7(3), 7-6(3), 7-5 after two hours and 40 minutes.
Goodall, who won the first set tie-break, fought to win the second but this time it went in favour of Fitzpatrick. The final set was equally as tense until Fitzpatrick secured the only break of serve in the whole match at 5-5, he then held serve to claim the match.
Goodall had come through a tough semi-final against third seed Richard Bloomfield 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, whilst Fitzpatrick arrived in the final without losing a set.
As the season opener, Billesley traditionally enjoys a strong field, with 2012 being no exception. In the main draw, there were 13 world ranked men, congratulations to Andrew on his recent success and good luck for 2012.
